Thomas Clarkson is president, Western Territory, Allstate Personal Lines. In this role, he has full accountability for profitable growth in 26 states in the western half of the U.S. He also serves as chairman of the board for Allstate Canada.

Clarkson started his career at Allstate in 1978. He held several assignments in claims before rising to senior district claim manager in 1985, territorial claim manager in 1989, quality development director in 1987 and assistant vice president in 1992. He was promoted to vice president of claims in 1995 and field vice president of Allstate’s North Central Region in 2000.

Clarkson is a proponent of servant leadership and has a long history of talent development, evident in the number of leaders he has mentored and helped advance.

Throughout his career at Allstate, Clarkson has been actively involved in numerous industry and community organizations. He currently serves on the executive committee for Junior Achievement of Chicago. He has served on the board for Facing History and Ourselves in Cleveland, Ohio, and was chair of the board for Junior Achievement of Southeast Michigan in 2013-2014. He has also served in executive officer roles for several industry associations.

In 2016, the National Diversity Council honored Clarkson with the Leadership Excellence award and Savoy Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America.

Clarkson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. He and his wife, Nancy, have two adult children and reside in southeastern Michigan.
